The Vrignaud family, settled in the village of Fontenay-près-Chablis, have been growing vines for 5 generations. Guillaume Vrignaud started to bottle his first wines in 1999, and became certified organic in 2009. They have 28 hectares today. This is shining and bright with lemongrass, lemon peel, and crunchy green apple along a tight Kimmeridgian palate, with a thin slip of lees gliding this to a saline rinsed finish.
"This is a quite ripe and rich Chablis but it adheres to the regional template very well, with modest 12.5% alcohol, fine acidity and a sense of minerality on the finish. The nose is quite ripe with peachy almost tropical fruit, fine lees and sourdough, a touch of parmesan and fresh herbs. Great to see so much complexity coming out of un-oaked chardonnay. It is just a touch sour-edged but there is so much fruit here. The length is excellent. Tasted November 2023.” - 92 points, David Lawrason, WineAlign.com
"Exuberance and more fruit than most in Chablis from a house that puts the entirety of their most promising Chardonnay into this Kimmeridgian basket without the requiem of Premier Cru status to exult what’s right. The fruit in this Vrignaud is outstanding, high level ripeness leading to juiciness and upper echelon status. A wine of stature regardless of the AOC destination. Rich, opulent and corpulent with fine acidity of a sweet and also savoury kind, stony as needed and extending with elastic length. Drink 2023-2027. Tasted November 2023.” - 92 points Michael Godel, WineAlign.com
